UK Commercial TV viewing shows an upswing

The average UK TV viewer watches a surprising 43 ads a day apparently – if only the advertisers knew if anything happened after they had seen them! More figures and discussion over at Mediaweek . I am a little surprised to see that the number of ads being watched on a Sky+ box has also increased.
Naturally this commercial increase means that the BBC’s market share has gone down and this can only be a good thing I think. As the competition for the eyeballs goes up – so should the quality, or am I a free market utopian?
